Maskarade is the Midlands' premier clarinet quartet, consisting of four of the region's most respected freelance performers. In well over a decade of regular performances this versatile ensemble has captivated audiences nationwide with its diverse repertoire and innovative performing style.

Maskarade's programmes encompass the music of four centuries and will typically combine original works for the medium with arrangements of symphonic pieces, light popular classics, traditional folk songs, dance and jazz numbers.   The group has also premiered several new works written specially for them.   The ensemble's repertoire and instrumentation exploit the possibilities of the single reed family to startling effect, the traditional line-up of three Bb clarinets and bass clarinet often being varied to include Eb clarinet, basset horn or saxophones.   Percussion and vocals have even been added on occasion to further enhance the timbres available.
